The department of the Gironde, Bègles: one of the greatest departments of France.

This department carries some very old traces of human presence which one can find the demonstrations in the cave of Par-not-Par. Closer to us are the habitats of the Gallo-Roman era like the amphitheatre of the Gallien Palate of Bordeaux. The Bridges which span the Gironde all are almost inventoried like sites classified by UNESCO like the Bridge of Pierre of Bordeaux, the Bridge of Langoiran or that of Colineau with the Safe one which date from XIXè, or the Bridge of Preignac which is more recent. One of the oldest bridges is the Bridge Raymond de Croignon.
Those among you who are set on Romanesque architecture will be able to appreciate of them the vestiges in a great number of sanctuaries as in the church of the abbey of Blasimon or with Our-lady of the End of the Grounds, or in the church St Jean de Lalande de Pomerol and even in the church St Pierre with Réole. Reserve also a visit with the cathedral St Jean Baptiste of Bazas, it is worth the glance.
The amateurs of culture will be satisfied of the many museums of all styles like that of Natural history of Bordeaux but also the museum of the Automats of Pauillac or Vinoscope of the Medoc Castle in Maucaillou; and if you still have curiosity visit the museum of the Horse with Cussac Fort Medoc.

The department of the Gironde has many castles, like those of Issan de Roquetaillade with Mazères or the castle of Malromé pertaining to Toulouse Lautrec or the Field of Malagar with St Maixent, remains of François Mauriac. Indeed the department of the Gironde is the cradle of celebrities such as Pierre Palmade or men known as Juppe. The term of “castle” indicates also wine properties which are those of great wines like Sheep-Rotschild or Latour.
The Gironde, it is also of pretty villages like co. Foy the Large one and Cadillac and of convivial seaside resorts like Montalivet or Cape Ferret and of course Arcachon. And then they are splendid beaches like that of Bombannes at the edge of the lake. And of course you will find bases nautical perfectly arranged like the Water level of Blasimon where your children will be able to divert themselves. But you will be able also to take them along to the Recreation park of Hume; do not forget especially if they are rather young of going in Gujan Mestras where specific activities await them such as Kid Parc. Also visit with them one of natural reserves or one of protected spaces like the Ornithological park of Teich or the Dune of Pilat. Envisage one strolls watery on Ciron or a descent in “the barge” on the Dordogne.
The Festivals and festivals are of big number and you will have only the embarrassment of the choice: you will attend the festival of the sea of Soulac to the festival of the vine with Sauveterre but you will like also Transhumances of Réole or Fest' Arts in Libourne and many other demonstrations still.
Finally along circuits with topics like the Green Road and Ports Pibaliers de Blaye you will take pleasure to drink one of the great wines of the department such as those of the Livornese or aperitif called “the lillet” to accompany the caviar by the estuary or the lamprey with the of Bordeaux one; you will finish by discovering Figs of Borough.
