The origin of this festival goes back to an argument which has occurred last Wednesday of August 1945 on the place of Buñol during which people started to launch out tomatos. The following year, of the young people started again, a voluntary way this time, the event which entered the history then. This festival was prohibited on several occasions before being definitively authorized in 1957 and then organized by the town hall of the city.
The rules of Tomatina are simple:
• The bottles are prohibited like any object which can cause an accident.
