Why San Gimignano

Many among you surely already put the question to know for which reasons the town of San Gimignano was named thus. The only Saint with this name is the bishop of Modena which lived during the IV ème century which not to actually visit the borough forever.
Only and single trace which one has of this Bishop takes again the history of a young boy of the Collar of the Valley of Elsa which was for do not know I which reason in Modena in 397 and who being by there, was to attend the burial in the honor of the Gimignano bishop hardly deceased. The young person repented and asked of the assistance and decided to return the object " to a Priesthood. From this moment, the small church taken the name of late Gimignano and around this one developed formidable town with the aspect medieval.
The festival in the honor of Patron saint of the city takes place on January 31 the occasion to visit Tuscany.
